A 22-year-old woman, the daughter of a senior civil servant, was found dead at her home in a southeast Delhi colony on Wednesday morning, in a case that has sent shockwaves through the area.
The victim, an engineering graduate preparing for the UPSC examination, is suspected to have been sexually assaulted before being killed, according to preliminary findings. The case has raised serious concerns over safety within residential spaces, especially when occupants are alone.

Police sources said the woman was alone at the time of the incident as her parents had stepped out for the gym. Investigators suspect she was strangled using a mobile phone charging cable.

The crime came to light after police received information early in the morning. Teams rushed to the spot and began a detailed probe.

Police said suspicion has centred on a former domestic help who had been dismissed from service around one-and-a-half months ago. Efforts are currently underway to trace the suspect.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress, police added.
